Can you imagine riding in an old mine cart to the center of a giant mountain? When you visit Silverton, CO be sure to take the educational tour of Old Hundred Gold Mine to experience what it’s like 1/3 mile into this mine with seven floors. Children of all ages are welcome and they do a wonderful job involving kids in the tour. Its very loud, so bring ear protection if sensitive to loud noises.
You will get to walk through the mine with a guide who is a retired miner, learn about and see mining equipment in action and ride an actual mine cart into the mine! When you get done, be sure to pan for some gold.

No reservations are needed. Tours leave on the hour from 10-3.
It’s a chilly 47 degrees inside the mine, so dress accordingly. They will provide rain jackets and hard hats for the entire family. We highly recommend this experience.
