You will definitely want to save this post for your trip to Vermont! The quintessential fall is in the details, but don’t worry…we have laid out an awesome trip plan for you.
1. Cold Hollow Cider Mill
Go early on a fall day grab a dozen freshly made cider donuts and a cup of hot cider. They make about 15,000 donuts on a busy weekend day in the fall and you can watch them come out of the donut machine and straight into the fryer. Then head to the back of the cidery to learn about the entire process of how cider is made on the old fashioned apple press. Don’t leave without your free sample of cold, crisp cider straight from the tank.
2. Covered Bridges
Take a drive to find all of the covered bridges. Getting off the main roads will also give all of you leaf peepers the best show. You will find an abundance of unique covered bridges around the Stowe, VT area.
3. Maple Sugar Farms
Stop in along your drive at a maple sugar house and buy some maple syrup. They typically sell pumpkins and other fall decor, cute kids clothes, and maple ice cream! You can stay on the farm in your RV through @harvesthosts program. Message me for your Harvest Host membership discount!
4. Moss Glen Falls
Take a hike to Moss Glen Falls! This is a short easy hike that most anyone can manage and the falls are gorgeous.
5. Mt. Ascutney
Summit a mountain! The drive up Mt Ascutney is dripping with foliage mid October. Head up to the parking lot near the top and take the slab trail up to the observation deck. Just when you think you have the best view in the house, hike down the Weathersfield Trail to relax and enjoy the view from the deck that hang gliders use to launch from.
It looks like we like to eat our way through Vermont, but it’s hard not to with so many fall treats to be had. And we rounded it out with some great hikes to burn off the sugar. We love that Vermont likes to keep it local with great whole food options and not one McDonald’s in the entire state. What’s not to love about Vermont!?
